Captain Tommy
Thomas Grimes (Captain Tommy) has navigated the Intracoastal Waterway since 2015. He has captained a 65 ton vessel carrying up to 200 passengers. He began his career on the water in 1980 as a deck hand on tugboats in Virginia. During the following 11 years, Captain Tommy obtained his 200 ton Captain’s License and began serving as the captain on several large tug boats. He opened and operated his own commercial Tug Boat business from 1991 - 2002. Back River Towing operated up and down the entire east coast with an emphasis on Virginia waterways, especially the James River. Back River Towing employed eight deck hands/captains at any given time.
Captain Tommy and his wife Stephanie share their home in Pompano Beach with their dog Eva. He is excited to share his knowledge of the area with all who come aboard for a fun ride up and down the intracoastal, out diving or just out to the Sandbar for some relaxation.
Dan Messner (Captain Dan) was born in New England, so the sea is in his blood. He started his career on the water by working as a crew member pulling lobster and crab pots.
He served his country in the US Marines and the US Navy Reserves. After years in Alaska, Dan decided to head to warmer waters and lives with his wife Anida on their boat in Hollywood.
He started his boating career in South Florida as a mate for a local tour boat company quickly earning his captain’s bars. Whether you are out on the ocean for a dive or cruising up the Intracoastal Waterway – you’re in good hands with Captain Dan.
